Probably the movie that made a revolution in the sci-fi genre, we don't need to introduce the Wachowski brothers' film, but for the ignorants...

Thomas Anderson is a man living two lives. By day he is an average computer programmer and by night a hacker known as Neo. Neo has always questioned his reality, but the truth is far beyond his imagination. Neo finds himself targeted by the police when he is contacted by Morpheus, a legendary computer hacker. Morpheus awakens Neo to the real world, a ravaged wasteland where most of humanity have been captured by a race of machines that live off of the humans' body heat and who imprison their minds within an artificial reality known as the Matrix. As a rebel against the machines, Neo must return to the Matrix and confront the agents: super-powerful computer programs devoted to seek and destroy Neo and the entire human rebellion.

Before filming, the principal actors spent four months with martial arts experts learning the fight moves, from October 1997 to March 1998. The actors had thought that it would only take just a few weeks.
Carrie-Ann Moss (Trinity) twisted her ankle while shooting one of her scenes but decided not to tell anyone until the end of the shooting, so that they wouldn't re-cast her.
For the cell phone conversation scene between Neo and Morpheus in the Meta Cortechs office Keanu Reeves actually climbed up the window, which was 34 floors up.
The glyphs on the computer screens, consist in reversed letters, numbers, and Japanese katakana characters.
The filming of the helicopter scene almost caused the film to be cancelled as they flew the helicopter through restricted Sydney airspace. Laws in the state of New South Wales in Australia were changed to allow the film to carry on.
The movie is inspired by several pieces of art or mythology. There are references to Alice in Wonderlands for instance (follow the white rabbit) or also the name of the character played by Laurance Fishburne, Morpheus, a reference to the God of dreams in greek mythology (which is ironic as Morpheus awaken Neo).
Neo is referred to the "One", which is an anagram of "Neo".
In order to play Agent Smith, Jean Reno was approached, but he declined the offer to act in Godzilla.
All scenes that take place within the Matrix have a green tint, as if watching them through a computer monitor, while scenes in the real world have a blue tint. The fight scene during the training between Morpheus and Neo, which is neither in the real world nor in the Matrix, is tinted yellow.
The famous "Bullet Time" scene is so famous that it has been spoofed in over 20 movies.
